Watching the movie in class today, it made me realize the many diffrences on Native American people and the common white americans in the United States these days. It also explained the changes he had gone through. Highwater explained to me how he had been adopted into a fanily with white cultur, in this family everything he had to learn and change to was different and new to him.. He said to adjust to this new way the Americans life went. I think that almost everybody can relate to this in some way or another. Maybe not all adapting to american culture but adapting to some new environment. Lets say your a big time american football player, and you start playing soccer. Right there is totally different atmosphere and culture. How about this, your very first sleepover. You all know that you thought whosever house you where at felt wierd. Maybe the way they ate dinner, how they cooked, and the rules. Enough about that it just popped in my head. Ethnocentrism could occur in a lot of different ways. How about the first day of middle school and you are just doing you. Maybe you are not totally down with the style of the day and got your own thing. People may make fun and you may conform to whats in and loose everything that makes you, you.

Adapting to a new environement can be scary.
Saturday, I am having lunch with a Buddhist monk and am nervous. While it is true that we all have to eat, we don’t all eat the same way. Monks have a variety of rules and exceptions to the rules.
I have seen monks eat in various situations, but never in a restaurant.
Fortunately, I am not too proud to ask questions and I know that this particular monk will give me directions if I need them.
Lunch will not be as scary as entering middle school, but it is a scary new experience.
